Glasgow, home of XX Commonwealth Games

With the 17 different sports in this year's Commonwealth Games, there will be something for everyone's cup of tea in Glasgow.

Commonwealth Games have been an international tradition every four years since 1930. This wonderful event has been hosted by 18 cities in seven different countries all over the world, including Canada, Australia, Malaysia, India and, of course, our own United Kingdom.

Commencing in July, the XX Commonwealth Games is going to be the main source of many other events, such as The Big Big Sing, which invites those interested to join in and sing along up until and during the Games. Another big surprise for Glasgow's visitors will be GRIT, an ambitious new theatre production based on the inspiring life and music of one of Scotland's most innovative and influential musicians. Those are just some of the events taking place during the games and there are plenty more to come.

This year's sports include Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton Squash and Table Tennis, Lawn Bowls, Netball and Gymnastics, for bike fans there's the Cycling and the Triathlon as well. Shooting is also included. And for the more adrenaline seeking visitors there's plenty of choice as well - Boxing, Hockey, Judo, Rugby Sevens, Shooting, Wrestling and Weightlifting.
