Bluegrass and traditional Chinese music might not seem the most natural of bedfellows, but they and many other styles find perfect harmony in the sublimely gifted hands of Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet. Singer and banjo player Washburn – last seen at Celtic Connections with all-girl string band Uncle Earl will be joined by banjo legend Béla Fleck, fiddle adventurer Casey Driessen and roots/classical cellist Ben Sollee. The Sparrow Quartet not only transcend musical boundaries between Appalachia and China, but draw on influences as diverse as jazz, classical and 60s pop.
